DB->get_byteswapped

APIRef

#include <db.h>

int DB->get_byteswapped(DB *db, int *isswapped);

Description

The DB->get_byteswapped function stores 0 into the memory location referenced by isswapped if the underlying database files were created on an architecture of the same byte order as the current one, and stores 1 into the memory location referenced by isswapped if they were not (that is, big-endian on a little-endian machine, or vice versa). This field may be used to determine whether application data needs to be adjusted for this architecture or not.

The DB->get_byteswapped interface may be called only after the DB->open interface has been called.

Errors

The DB->get_byteswapped function may fail and return a non-zero error for the following conditions:

EINVAL
An invalid flag value or parameter was specified.

Called before DB->open was called.

The DB->get_byteswapped function may fail and return a non-zero error for errors specified for other Berkeley DB and C library or system functions. If a catastrophic error has occurred, the DB->get_byteswapped function may fail and return DB_RUNRECOVERY, in which case all subsequent Berkeley DB calls will fail in the same way.
